Sirvart was born in Kurgan, Turkey to parents from Sivas and Keyseri. She grew up in Haleb, and eventually travelled to Lebanon. In 1976 she fled violence in Lebanon and immigrated to Canada with her husband and children.
Since 1977 she has been an active member of the Armenian Relief Society Arev Chapter, to give back to her community.
In Canada, Sirvart worked as a seamstress at companies like Levi’s. Now retired, she spends her time with her family--including our producer Ani--and sharing their history.
